Providers & Instructors

​​​​​​​Legislative Rule, Series 3- Requirements for Real Estate Courses, Course Providers, and Instructors​


In compliance with WV CSR § 174-3.3 all real estate courses, course providers and instructors must be approved by and registered with the Commission prior to advertising or offering courses. Applications for approval shall be on forms prescribed by the Commission and through a process prescribed by the Commission.The required approval fees must be submitted with the application. All distance education courses must have ARELLO certification and follow the remote delivery standards​ approved by the Commission.

DISTANCE EDUCATION

​All providers must follow the Minimum Standards for Remote Delivery approved by the Commission.  Once a course is approved to be delivered through remote instruction a provider may schedule remote delivery courses using the form prescribed by the Commission and sending it to the Education Director.

​Info​​​rmation regarding the application and required documents can be found on the CE Broker website.  The outline template below is only for new continuing education courses and must be completed and then submitted to the course provider to be submitted with the online application.  

All approved pre-license and continuing education instructors shall complete annual instructor development workshops when offered by the Commission, unless the attendance is waived by the Commission or the individual is an out-of-state instructor who a) is approved by the National Association of Realtors (NAR) or b) holds a Distinguished Real Estate Instructor (DREI) designation.


Instructo​​rs of Pre-license and Continuing Education Courses must meeT the minimum requirements for approval to teach.​


1.  Is an attorney at law with a minimum of five (5) years of active practice in the area of study he or she proposes to teach;

2.  Holds a degree in real estate from an accredited college or university;

3.  Is a licensed real estate broker, associate broker, or salesperson with a minimum of five (5) years experience in the area of study he or she proposes to teach;

4.  Holds a degree from an accredited college or university and has at least (2) years of teaching experience and possesses a minimum of two hundred (200) classroom hours in the area of study he or she          proposes to teach; or

5.  Has a minimum of five (5) years of professional or teaching experience in the area of study he or she proposes to teach.


Distance Education Instructors

Instructors of distance education courses shall obtain Distance Education Instructor Certification from IDECC (International Distance Education Certification Center) prior to their application for approval by the Commission and must submit verification of the certification.
